This project was
one of the branches of the entire project submitted to the Life programme
in the 1994.
The project offer:
-
An accessible pedestrian mobility in
the historical centre supported by lifts as accessible and eco-compatible
means of transportation.
These lifts
are characteristic in Genoa from the late 18 th century. After having
checked the gradient of all the streets, we drew up some interesting
and easily accessible itineraries of both tourist and commercial interests,
connecting one place to another, crossing a court or passing through
an unused area or up to the roofs arriving inside the public and historical
buildings from the top level instead of the street- level, between gardens
with a beautiful view. Lifts and streets with a gradient low 5% link
the historical centre and green areas such as the Botanic Gardens.
-
Nodal points of connection
between different means of transportation as rails, underground, busses
i.e. using five old rain water cisterns and their wide canals as underground
squares.
-
The connection between the Darsena University and the historical centre,
re-establishing the historical passage in the Royal Palace, instead
of the destroyed Royal Bridge used by the King Vittorio Emanuele to
move from the Royal Ship to his apartments.
-
Revitalisation of part of the city,
restoring not used buildings for new commercial activities.
-
New parking areas
close to the historical centre like a large multi-stores parking area
serving the Aquarium Centre.
